Nadia-The humpback whale
Hello there, little explorer! I am Nadia, nice to meet you:)

The first thing you should know about me is that I am hugeeee!!!!!
I can grow up to 60 feet long, which is as long as a school bus, and I weigh around 80,000 pounds, about the same as ten elephants.

Try lifting me… I bet you can’t!
WHAT'S ON THE MENU?
I may be big, but my food is tiny. I eat krill and small fish, about 3,000 pounds of them every single day. Even though my mouth is massive, my food is very small. Funny, right?
MY BIG OCEAN ADVENTURE
To find food, I travel very far, sometimes up to 25,000 kilometers a year.
In the winter, I swim to the cold polar waters to feed, and when it’s time to have my baby, I travel all the way to the warm tropical seas.
That’s because I’m a mammal, just like you. I give birth to live babies called calves.
No egg laying for me-that's for fish and reptiles, like turtles.
MY OCEAN SONGS
I’m not only a great swimmer but also a fantastic singer. The male whales create long, beautiful songs that can be heard 20 miles away. They can sing for about 30 minutes at a time, and sometimes they repeat their songs for hours or even days.
My songs help me communicate, find food, and avoid predators. Only male whales are the true singers, but I still think I sound amazing.

If you live in the UK, you might spot me near the Isle of Mull in Scotland, the Hebrides, or around Cornwall.
Look out for me breaching — that’s when I leap out of the water and make a giant splash.
If you’re quick with your camera, take a photo and send it to my ocean friend Xenia. She might share it right here on the website.
